Why we need your help: Because the cost of homelessness affects us all--no matter where we live. And the saddest statistic of all…the number of homeless children continues to grow.
The Department of Economic Security in Arizona (DES) reported that the number of children and youth experiencing homelessness in Arizona increased from previous years; in 2008, the Local Educational Agencies reported that 20,723 children (pre-kindergarten-12th grade) throughout the state were homeless, an increase of 82 percent since 2003.

Why you can feel good about helping:
Families who are not helped to overcome the emotional and physical issues that arise from homelessness often end up in the criminal system or on governmental assistance which results in higher costs to taxpayers and society. In order to meet the growing demand for our services, we must expand our contribution base. We are a community-based agency, not an international organization with huge overhead, so individuals and organizations can be certain the money that is donated here, stays here, to benefit the communities where we work, live and raise our own families.
"I've audited a number of different nonprofit agencies, but Save the Family ranks as one of the most fiscally responsible. While most nonprofits typically engender administrative costs of 15% to 20%, Save the Family's administrative costs have consistently averaged between 10% - 12% each year. That’s testament to the staff, volunteers and Board of Directors who invest many hours of their own time, skills and resources." - Larry Squires, CPA, Vance, Butler, Squires & Jones, P.C.
